American Icon
Some things are just iconic. Whichever way you look at them they are immediately recognisable. The Golden Gate Bridge has been photographed from every imaginable angle. But just in case here is a close up of the structure that shows nothing and yet shows everything.
The ‘Chrysopylae’ or Golden Gate Bridge is one of the wonders of the modern world.
It was opened in 1937, a year after Britain’s Fred Perry won the men’s singles championship at Wimbledon.
The suspension bridge crosses The Golden Gate from San Francisco to Marin County and is 1.7 miles long.
The current bridge is said to be able to withstand an earthquake somewhere around the magnitude of the 8 scale. The Great 1906 San Francisco Earthquake was up to a moment magnitude of 8.25!
The bridge is painted in a colour that is slightly lighter than International Orange and mixed to a particular formula. Fireweed (colour code SW 6328) is the nearest off-the-shelf colour.
The Golden Gate Bridge is definitely a favourite LAW Creative design icon.
