“Boy it would be good if you knew this”

David Letterman to The Right Honourable David Cameron MP.

David Michael Letterman is an American television host and comedian on the talk show Late With Letterman.

Recent guest The Right Honourable David Cameron MP, our Prime Minister, was given a spoof British Citizen test by Letterman in front of 5.6 million Americans.

One of the questions asked by Letterman was ‘what do the words Magna Carta mean’? David Cameron just didn’t know. So, this morning we asked several of the LAW Creative team the same question. By the way most of our staff alas weren’t educated at Eton!!

By and large we knew that Magna Carta was the Great Charter. Most people here knew that it was signed by King John, that his brother was King Richard I and that the Charter was signed at Runnymede. Not bad!

Said Cameron to Letterman. “I’ve ended my career on your show”

Yes Prime Minister, well one thing is certain, the history department at Eton will  be cringing at the very least!!!
