The Force is Strong With This One

As a big Star Wars fan I had the pleasure of visiting the ‘Identities’ exhibition at the O2 in London this week.

With over 200 original costumes, props, models and pieces of artwork, it was an incredible insight into the character development process Lucasfilm employed to create the films we know and love.

The exhibition also utilised an interesting mix of technology to make the experience truly immersive. On arrival you are given an audio headset that activates when you are in an audio ‘hotspot’ providing commentary about the items you are viewing. You also receive a RFID wristband that is used to create your unique Star Wars character based on answering a number of questions about your thoughts on family, culture and values. As you move around the exhibition there are various terminals where you scan your wristband and answer questions. At the end of the exhibition you are shown your personalised character on a large display and provide your email address (great data collection) in order to receive that character digitally. It’s a nice memento of the experience.

I’m also pleased to say that my character was a Jedi and I managed to resist the Dark Side!

The exhibition runs to September 3rd and I would highly recommend a visit.
