Ultimate Training. Stepping outside my comfort zone.

Ultimate Training. Stepping outside my comfort zone.

As an avid gym user and runner I was excited when we received a brief to launch ‘Ultimate Training’ in the David Lloyd Leisure Oxford and Hatfield clubs. My first thought was I have to give this a go!!!

My Ultimate Training session at Oxford started with a bang – literally! Developed from police, military special ops and elite athlete training programmes the warm up consisted of burpees, squat thrusts, lunges and box jumps. The session took place in a specially designed covered, outside area it didn’t take long to warm up! SAQ circuit training was followed by a team TRX suspension circuit including press ups, chin ups, squats with weights, boxing and a 25kg 1 arm press (okay, in my case 2 arm press!). The final circuit even saw my competitive side emerge – determined not to finish last in our individual challenge of 5 sets of: squats with weights, 100 skips and yet more box jumps – it was a great motivator to push myself harder!

Our trainer was fantastic – knowing just how far to set the bar, providing varying techniques dependant on our own personal fitness levels. I always think you know how hard you’ve worked when everything hurts at the end of a session…but it was worth it!

If you’re looking for something new to try, want to work just that extra bit harder and push yourself in your workout give Ultimate Training a go…you’ll be surprised by the results!
