As I walked through London on my way to a discussion on diversity held by the IPA for the Festival of British Advertising, the diversification of modern society was clear to see. Different cultures, genders, races, religions, lifestyles, orientations – they are all prevalent in modern Britain. So why are they not fully represented in…Read More
Recently I reached my ten-year work anniversary at LAW Creative. Ten years? Where did they go? Well, I guess they went all over – from raising a young family to successful career development, from home buying and renovation to pitch and industry award wins. From trips overseas (both business and social), large film productions and client pitches to award-winning integrated campaigns, new brand development and the ever-changing landscape of digital marketing.
Often when asked whether advertising agency awards matter agencies will respond by saying that winning awards inspires their young talent, creates brand awareness, enhances their reputation, makes it easier for them to hire good new people and recognises the hard work of their account and creative teams…. oh, and winning awards sometimes attracts new clients, too.
They can print a new crown for your tooth, they can print machine components on the International Space Station, and they can print you, too. 3D printers are opening up new possibilities and capturing imaginations everywhere, so I gave one a try this week at Backface, a studio that’s refined a 3D printing process to achieve a quality that we at LAW Creative haven’t seen bettered. And since I was going there to have my own body scanned and printed, and felt like rather poor subject matter, I needed all the quality I could get.
So I found myself stranded in the Arctic Circle. The taxi transporting my film crew and I had had an unfortunate mishap involving a deep pile of snow and a patch of the blackest ice. I went to take a sip from my water bottle but it had frozen solid. I took out my phone to find the nearest town, blinking through crystals of ice that had formed on my eyelashes, only to discover that my Lithium battery had died in the extreme cold.
From this spring the LAW Creative London office will be moving to FORA in Clerkenwell.
FORA is the future for contemporary and beautifully designed work spaces. Visiting LAW clients will be able to experience hotel style hospitality in a working environment as well as perhaps enjoying chef Stevie Parle’s Palatino restaurant serving simple, elegant and tasty Italian dishes.
Coming soon: a take-away of your choice dropped into your house by drone – maybe.
However, what is in no doubt is that the whole business of high speed food delivery is growing exponentially and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Pablo Alonso, CEO of Intelligence firm HotStats, has said: “The growth in food and beverage revenue over the past 15 years has been well behind the growth in rooms revenue. It appears the food and beverage department has been somewhat neglected in recent years, so refocusing resources on this key department presents a strong opportunity to increase its contribution to overall revenue and profitability.”
Our filmmakers certainly know how to pick a stunning location.
